Podcast creators are getting a financial boost as Spotify expands its Partner Program to four major English-speaking markets. The program, which kicked off last year, has already attracted well over half of eligible content creators in its initial phase.

What sets this initiative apart is its focus on video podcasts and a new payment system. Podcasters can now earn from Premium subscriptions through a dedicated funding pool - separate from the music royalties system that pays artists. The program also lets creators plug in audio ads across Spotify and other platforms.

This move could hint at Spotify's bigger plans for creator earnings. While the company is known for its sometimes controversial music payment system, these new podcast features might preview what's in store for musicians down the line.

The rollout is happening now in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, marking Spotify's latest push to help podcast creators turn their shows into profitable ventures.
