Five years ago, hip-hop artist Doechii shared a raw video of herself disclosing that she had been fired from her job. In the 80-second clip, the then-21-year-old Florida native calmly ate chips while declaring, "I don't give a f--k, to be honest."
Rather than dwelling on the setback, Doechii expressed determination to pursue her passions, saying she would seek out studio internships the next day, asserting "Who gives a f--k? I have nothing to lose."
That resilient mindset has now paid off in a major way. Last weekend, the 26-year-old won her first Grammy for Best Rap Album for her critically acclaimed project "Alligator Bites Never Heal." In her acceptance speech, Doechii encouraged young Black girls to chase their dreams fearlessly, stating, "Anything is possible. Don't allow anybody to project any stereotypes onto you."
Fans have been quick to draw inspiration from Doechii's trajectory, with one writing on X, "doechii's story really is a testament to why you HAVE to believe in yourself and chase tf out of your dreams." Another remarked, "unironically everyone should be clinging onto this for motivation."
